Very early reliable Dutch currant variety with strong growth. Recommended for commercial cultivation and hobby gardeners.
Crossing: bred from Fay Prolific seedling, breeder J. Maars, Holland, 1941
Vigour: strong, upright, dense, height 1.2 - 1.5 m. Rejuvenation pruning required. Suitable for low and middle altitudes.
Blossom: self-fertile
Fruits: bunches are long, somewhat sparse, berries are large, dark red, 0.7 - 0.9 g. Suitable for fresh consumption, freezing and processing into jams and juices.
Taste: sour, aromatic
Harvest season: ripens from late June to mid-July
Yield: high, regular
Disease Resistance: resistant to American powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca mors uvae), moderately resistant to anthracnose (Drepanopeziza ribis).
Frost resistance: completely hardy
