Aronia is originally from North America, from where it spread to Europe, especially the Nordic countries. The Nero variety was bred in Slovakia and is considered a classic among Aronias. It is the most planted and most productive variety in Germany and Poland. Perfectly adapted to unfavorable climatic conditions. The fruits have healing properties and resemble mountain ash. Are suitable for juice, wine and jam processing.

Origin: Slovakia, Research Institute for Fruit and Ornamental Trees, Bojnice, 1973
Vigour: upright, broad and well-branched deciduous shrub with a height of 1.5 - 2.5 m. Dark green foliage, turning red-orange in autumn.
Site requirements: sun to semi-shade
Blossom: large white umbels, blooms profusely in mid-May, the variety is self-fertile
Fruits: shiny, round, purple-black berries up to 10 mm in size, firm skin, carmine red juice, juicy flesh, taste tart to sweet. The berries keep fresh for about two months.
Harvest season: in warmer regions as early as August, in northern and colder regions at the beginning of September
Yield: very high, the harvest is regular and very rich. Nero is the most fertile Aronia variety.
Usage: fruit juice is high in vitamin C and antioxidants. Berries can be used to make wine, juice, jam or for drying. Aronia is also used as a flavoring or coloring in drinks, yoghurts and also as a fruit tea.
Disease resistance: resistant to drought, insect pests and diseases, easy to care for and undemanding to the site
Frost resistance: absolutely frost hardy
Healing effect: Aronia is highly effective against all cardiovascular diseases, against disorders in blood flow and blood clotting as well as against all kinds of inflammatory diseases.
