High yielding variety with an interesting caramel flavor bred in England around 1850. Also suitable for commercial cultivation due to fruit quality, disease resistance and regular yields. The flowers and leaves are very decorative.

Vigour: height and width 4 to 6 m, spreading shrub or bushy tree with characteristic laurel-like leaves. Robust, easy to care for, tolerates drought well, for warm and sunny locations.
Blossom: the white, up to 4 cm large, white flowers appear in May and adorn the fruit tree for 2 to 3 weeks, self-fertile
Fruit: medium-sized, weight 25 - 30 g, diameter 4 cm, round, peel brown. Brownish pulp, firm at first, soft and doughy when fully ripe.
Flavour: caramel
Harvest season: end of October. The fruit should be stored for several weeks, and eaten after the flesh texture has softened. At this stage they develop a nice caramel-like taste.
Yield: high and regular, early onset, already in the 2nd - 3rd year after planting
Usage: for fresh consumption, baking, jams, for burning
Disease resistance: high, suitable for organic or no-spray culture
