no longer available Siberian plum (Prunus x hybrid) CHUK

Mid-late Siberian plum intended mainly for northern growing areas with cold winters and unsettled spring weather. Very valuable for tasty fruits, high frost resistance and very good resistance to fungal diseases. An interspecific hybrid of Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), Japanese plum (Prunus salicina), Ussurian plum (Prunus ussuriensis) and Chinese plum (Prunus simonii).

Crossing: Skoroplodnaja x Otlichnitsa, breeder G.V. Yeremin, S.N. Zabrodina. Released in 1998.
Vigour: weak, canopy round-oval, compact, dense
Blossom: the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinator. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. A suitable pollinator is another variety of Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruit: medium-sized, 28 - 30 g, round, peel firm, dark bordeaux with a thick wax coating. Suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing. Due to the good juice quality, it is also suitable for the production of sweet wine.
Pulp: orange, juicy, firm, clingstone. Medium sized stone.
Taste: pleasantly sweet and sour, aromatic
Harvest season: mid-August
Yield: high, regular
Disease and frost resistance: high
Usage: the variety is particularly suitable for peripheral areas of stone fruit cultivation. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
