no longer available Siberian plum (Prunus x hybrid) DONCHANKA RANNAYA

Early Siberian plum intended mainly for northern growing areas with cold winters and unsettled spring weather. Very valuable for high-quality tasty fruits, adaptability, high frost resistance and very good resistance to fungal diseases. An interspecific hybrid of Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), Japanese plum (Prunus salicina), Ussurian plum (Prunus ussuriensis) and Chinese plum (Prunus simonii).

Crossing: Obilnaya x Krymskaya Roza, breeder L.I. Taranenko, Donetsk, Ukraine. Released in 1997.
Vigour: weak, canopy round, moderately dense
Blossom: early, the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinator. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. A suitable pollinator is another variety of Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruits: average weight 50 - 60 g, round, peel firm, dark red, when fully ripe, almost black with a light wax coating. Suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing. Fruits are easy to store and transport.
Pulp: creamy yellow, reddish on the peel, moderately dense, aromatic
Taste: harmonious, pleasantly sweet and sour, aromatic
Harvest season: early July
Yield: high, early yield onset
Disease and frost resistance: high, good Plum pox virus resistance
Usage: the variety is particularly suitable for peripheral areas of stone fruit cultivation. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
