Variety bred in the French region of Ardèche, a selection of hybrid plants derived from the free pollination of the Japanese chestnut Castanea crenata and the European chestnut Castanea sativa. The variety was registered in 1986. The tree has a strong root system, it is also suitable as a rootstock for good compatibility with other chestnut varieties. This variety can be grown up to 300 m above sea level.
