no longer available Siberian plum (Prunus x hybrid) ZURNA

Large-fruited Siberian plum intended mainly for northern growing regions with cold winters and unpredictable spring weather. Valuable for rich yields, high frost resistance and very good resistance to fungal diseases. An interspecific hybrid of Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), Japanese plum (Prunus salicina), Ussurian plum (Prunus ussuriensis) and Chinese plum (Prunus simonii).

Crossing: Pobeda x Pionerka, breeder K.F. Kostina, 1961
Vigour: medium strong, oval canopy, moderately dense
Blossom: medium early, the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinator. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. A suitable pollinator is another variety of Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruit: weight 60 - 70 g, oval. Skin thin, firm, ground color yellow-orange, cover color raspberry red on most of the fruit surface. Fruits are resistant to cracking and easy to transport. Suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing.
Pulp: juicy, medium-firm, orange, aromatic, freestone
Taste: harmonious, more sweet than sour
Harvest season: mid-July
Yield: high, stable and regular, very early yield onset
Disease and frost resistance: high
Usage: the variety is particularly suitable for peripheral areas of stone fruit cultivation. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
