no longer available Almond (Amygdalus communis) FERRAGNES

Ferragnès is partner variety to Ferraduel. Blooms late, avoiding spring frosts. Of the French varieties, Ferragnès (about 60%) and Ferraduel (about 30% of total production) are among the most important almond varieties in France.

Origin: France (INRA), Bordeaux 1966
Vigour: the tree grows moderately strong, final height is 3 - 4 m, by pruning the canopy, the tree height and width can be easily adapted to the limited space of a small garden
Site requirements: sunny, thrives on dry, well-drained, humus-rich soil
Blossom: cross-pollinate, blooms profusely, late, mid-March together with the Ferraduel variety, later than the older almond varieties. Light pink-white flowers are very decorative.
Pollinator: Ferraduel, Palatina
Fruits: very large, oval, semi-hard shelled. Kernel large, broad-oval of excellent quality with a pleasant delicious taste. Kernel share 35% - 40%, double kernels do not occur.
Harvest season: late September
Yield: very high, regular, early yield onset. Almonds can be stored for more than a year after harvest.
Disease resistance: resistant to Monilia, tolerant to other fungal diseases
Frost resistance: very good, we recommend planting up to 400 m above sea level
