no longer available Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) GORDOST ROSSII

Thornless summer-fruiting red raspberry with attractive very large fruits, suitable especially for fresh consumption as well as for processing.

Crossing: Stolichnaya x Shtambovy-20, breeder prof. V.V. Kichina, Russia. Released in 1998.
Vigour: moderate, growth height 1.5 - 1.8 m. Canes are completely without thorns, due to crop overload require climbing support.
Site requirements: full sun location
Fruits: very large, attractive conical shape, bright red when fully ripe with a velvety surface. Average weight 6 - 10 g, some up to 18 g. The flesh is juicy, melting with fine small seeds. The berries are shape stable and easy to transport, do not fall off when fully ripe and hold well on the shrub for a long time without loss of quality.
Taste: gourmet sweet with a pronounced raspberry aroma, typical of this variety. Few raspberry varieties can compete with that.
Harvest season: summer variety, bears fruit once a year on last year's wood from early June to late July. During the warm autumn, it can re-fruiting on the canes that have already harvested in the summer.
Yield: heavy cropper, on average 4 - 5 kg of fruit per shrub, sometimes up to 6 kg depending on the level of care. Long-term average yield is 20 t / ha. Fertilizing with organic fertilizer will positively affect the yield.
Disease resistance: complex resistance to fungal diseases and pests at the level of the best standard varieties. Immune against the large raspberry aphid (Amphorophora idaei) and the small raspberry aphid (Aphis idaei), both are vectors of viruses.
Frost resistance: completely hardy to -30°C
