Large-fruited variety with excellent sweet taste. One of the best bred Amelanchier sorts to this day. This variety was created by selection from the Thiessen variety in the state of Saskatchewan in Canada.
Origin: Selection from the seedlings of the Thiessen variety, Saskatchewan, Canada
Vigour: moderate, upright shrub, height 4 - 5 m
Blossom: May, self-fertile
Fruits: large, 1.8 cm in diameter, round, blue-black, grows in clusters of 6 - 12 pieces. The pulp is juicy, sweet. The fruit is similar to blueberries, but unlike these, the saskatoon berry does not need acidic soil.
Harvest season: very early, in early June, ripen in clusters at the same time
Disease resistance: not sensitive to fungal diseases, or pests
Frost resistance: high
