Plum pox virus (PPV) resistant self-fertile plum. Very valuable for its marketable fruit quality, excellent taste, bountiful yields and high frost resistance in wood and blossom at the level of Siberian plums. Every home gardener will appreciate the narrow columnar shape of the canopy, thanks to which it does not take up too much space.
Crossing: Bogatyrskaja x Volgogradskaja. Breeders R.V. Korneyev, L.N. Zhukova, Agricultural Research Institute NIISCH, Ukraine. Released in 2002.
Vigour: moderate, compact, columnar, medium dense canopy. The variety is also suitable for smaller gardens.
Blossom: blooms in early May, self-fertile variety. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruits: medium-sized, oval, weight 30 - 35 g, size 43 x 32 mm. Peel dark violet, when fully ripe blue with a strong wax coating. The fruits are easy to transport. Suitable for fresh consumption and for all types of processing. 100 g fresh weight contains 22.0% dry matter, 15.0% sugar, 1.0% acids, 9.0 mg vitamin C.
Pulp: yellow, juicy, firm with fine consistency, freestone. Juice colorless. Medium-sized stone. Stone proportion to the fruit weight is 7%.
Taste: pleasant, honey-sweet when fully ripe, full-bodied, dessert. Due to the high sugar content, the fruits are also suitable for burning and drying.
Harvest season: medium early ripening, mid-August
Yield: high and regular, averaging 30 kg / 6 year old tree
Disease resistance: resistant to Plum pox virus, generally high resistance to diseases and pests affecting plums. The variety is drought resistant and adaptable to different climatic conditions.
Frost resistance: both wood and flower buds are frost hardy
Special notes: suitable in private gardens and in intensive orchards. Due to the general disease resistance, it is particularly interesting for organic or no-spray cultivation.
