Canadian hybrid dwarf sour cherry with high frost and disease resistance, particularly suitable for small gardens. Forms a shrub up to 2 meters high. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.

Origin: the hybrid cross between pie cherries Prunus cerasus and dwarf ground cherry Prunus fruticosa is the parentage for this very cold hardy bush cherry. Breeder Dr. Les Kerr, University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Vigour: moderate, overhanging, growth height 2 m
Blossom: self-fertile
Fruits: weight 5 - 7 g, round, purple-red, almost black when fully ripe. The dark red pigment goes throughout the fruit and contains high levels of anthocyanins, which are among the most powerful antioxidants. The sugar content reaches up to 22° Brix.
Pulp: juicy, flesh and juice are dark red
Taste: dessert, harmonious, balanced sweet and sour
Harvest season: very early, mid-June
Yealds: high, regular and stable
Usage: very suitable for small gardens. Little sensitive to damage during transport. Variety is valuable for fruit quality and good health. Products like pies and jams made from the fruit are considered gourmet by those familiar with other pie cherries. It's a pie cherry, but many love it fresh.
