Very early season Romanian apricot. Valuable for excellent taste and market properties, late flowering as well as resistance to fungal and viral diseases. The variety enables ecological cultivation without chemical sprays.
Crossing: Farmigdale x NJA20, breeder Dr. Ing. Viorica Balan. Registered in 2002.
Vigour: moderate
Blossom: mid-early to late, partialy self-fertile
Fruit: very large, weight 100 - 110 g, oval to elongated shape, shiny peel
Fruit colour: very attractive, orange with a red face on the larger fruit surface, unusually shiny, reminiscent of nectarine
Pulp: orange, juicy with a good consistency, freestone
Taste: balanced dessert taste with an intense aroma
Harvest season: second decade of June
Yeald: high, regular, on average 30 - 40 kg / tree. Very early start to produce fruit.
Disease resistance: excellent. Resistance to Plum Pox Virus (PPV), brown rot of stone fruit ( Monilinia laxa ), shot hole disease (also called Coryneum blight caused by Stigmina carpophila syn. Clasterosporium carpophilum) and leucostoma canker (Leucostoma cincta syn. Cytospora cincta). Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
Usage: universal, for fresh consumption as well as for industrial processing. Suitable for ecological cultivation in intensive production plantations.
