Cherry-plum hybrid was created by crossing cherry and plum. The result of the crossing is fruits that are larger than cherries and smaller than plums. Colorful fruits that ripen at the same time as cherries. The combination of sweet and sour taste is balanced, the cherry and plum aroma enchants every fruit lover! Cherry Plum is one of the most prolific interspecific hybrids. Regardless of the unstable spring weather, every year reliably brings a rich harvest. The tree growth is not too strong, can be kept compact by pruning, while the branches do not break under the weight of the crop. Crossing: Prunus besseyi x Prunus salicina
Vigour: moderate strong, medium dense crown
Blossom: early, the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinators. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. Suitable pollinator is Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. The big advantage is that blooming flowers are resistant to mild frosts. This guarantees a reliable harvest every year.
Fruits: medium-sized, weight 20 - 30 g, typically heart-shaped, yellow-orange skin, dark red when fully ripe
Pulp: creamy yellow, reddish on the skin
Taste: harmoniously sweet and sour with a pleasant aroma of cherries and plums
Harvest season: very early, ripens from the end of June even in cold areas where plums cannot normally be grown at all
Yield: very high, early onset. The fruits do not need to be thinned, they grow to a uniform size and continue to ripen reliably, even if the tree bears an excess of crop on the branches.
