Pluot Flavor Candy combines the fragrant taste of an apricot and the juiciness of a plum. The fruit is as big as a peach and gets its taste rather on the side of apricot while its juicy texture comes from the plum.
Crossing: (Prunus armeniaca x Prunus salicina) x Prunus salicina. The pluot consists of approx. 25% apricot and approx. 75% Japanese plum.
Vigour: the tree grows strong, robust, semi-upright
Blossom: early flowering, cross-pollinate, requires pollinator - other Pluot variety or a Japanese plum
Fruit: round, medium-sized, 35 - 45g, crimson skin, ground color yellow
Pulp: yellow, extremely sweet, firm, very juicy when fully ripe. Stone very small. The Brix value of this variety is 18%.
Taste: intense, tasty, aromatic. The taste of Pluots is more reminiscent of a Japanese plum than an apricot.
Harvest season: mid-July
Yield: medium-high, but regular, yield starts in the 3rd - 4th year after planting
