How to plant potted grape vine plants

Potted grape vines can be planted in frost-free soil all year round.
Our potted resistant table grape plants already have a well-developed root system. All grape varieties in our range are vigorous and are therefore particularly suitable for high trellis and pergolas.
Unpack the vine plants immediately after delivery.
Remove the protective stretch film and tape from the pot.
Irrigation
Check the moisture of the root ball. When it is dry then water it from above, excess water must drain off immediately.
Never water by immersing the whole root ball in water, this can destroy the whole plant
if the plant has twisted leaves, this does not necessarily mean a lack of water, but just a temporary reaction to the transport conditions.
Planting
Plant as soon as possible, preferably on the same day. Do not keep the tree in the pot.
If the day is too hot, plant in the early evening. Do not use any fertilizer when planting.
Remove the vine plant from the container just before planting.
Do not disassemble the root ball or cut roots in any way!
Do not sprinkle fertilizer directly into the planting pit to avoid damaging the roots (risk of burns!).
Vines should be planted 1.2 to 1.5 m apart in the row. The planting pit should be dug 50 – 60 cm deep. Water must not accumulate in the pit for a long time after rain. This means that the subsoil below the pit should be permeable to water. The water in the planting pit must not remain standing, but must be able to drain into the subsoil, otherwise the plant will die.
If the quality of the garden soil is poor, we recommend using a high-quality garden substrate or mixing the soil with ripe compost. Never use fresh manure!
It is always necessary to provide the vine plant with a stick so that the young shoot can be built up in a straight line.
After planting, water the vine with enough clean water without adding fertilizer. Check the planted vine and water it daily, especially when the temperature exceeds 30°C.
Start adding fertilizer to the watering a week after planting. Be careful not to exceed the recommended dosage in the instructions for use. It doesn't happen often, but an overdose of mineral fertilizers can cause the young vines to die.
During the growing season we recommend the application of water-soluble crystalline fertilizer with trace elements as foliar nutrition, necessary for the healthy growth of the vine. Spray the vine's leaves once every two weeks early in the morning or late in the evening. You can also use the same water-soluble fertilizer as nutrition when irrigating a week after planting.
Irrigate daily until the vine is rooted in soil (approx. 2–3 weeks). This is especially true in the summer months when the summer heat is strong.
How to prepare a planted grape vines for winter?
To avoid frost damage, the young vine plants should be properly covered up with a mixture of sand and wood shavings in pre-winter to ensure that the lower eyes do not freeze or dry out.

What do we definitely not recommend?
We do not recommend to leave the vine plants in the pots before overwintering, but only to plant them outdoors, as the vines are usually planted.
Why not leave it in the pots?
Because the above-ground part of the grape vine plant usually dries out during the winter.
We definitely do not recommend keeping grape vines indoors during the winter.
