In translation, "New Century" is a medium early Japanese pear with an exceptionally high yield. One of the most popular varieties. Suitable for both commercial and private cultivation.
Origin: Agricultural research station in Okayama Prefecture, Japan in 1945
Crossing: Nijiseiki x Chojuro
Vigour: moderate, crown heavily branched
Blossom: cross-pollinate variety, needs another apple pear for pollination. It is also a good pollinator for all other Nashi varieties.
Fruit: medium to large, average weight 150 to 200 g, flat spherical. Peel smooth, thin, the basic color is greenish-yellow to deep yellow with densely distributed lenticels.
Pulp: white, firm, crispy, very juicy
Taste: sweet, harmonious, balanced
Harvest season: ripens gradually from the beginning of September. The fruits have a long harvest time, they can be consumed by the tree immediately. Storage in the refrigerator is possible for up to 2 - 3 months.
Yield: very heavy, thinning required.
