Rarely common, large-fruited mulberry variety that impresses with its extra-long, black fruits with excellent taste. Taiwan Long mulberry begins vegetation much earlier than other domestic mulberry trees and is therefore sensitive to late spring frosts after budding. Growing is only possible in containers. To overwinter, the mulberry must be placed in an unheated greenhouse, placement outside the greenhouse is only possible after the spring frosts have passed.
Vigour: strong, canopy growth is weeping, when planted in soil height in maturity is up to 3 m, when planted in big pot height in maturity is up to 1,5- 2 m, growth reducing by pruning is possible
Blossom: self fertile
Fruits: very large, 1 cm wide, 8 to 10 cm long, some up to 12 cm
Pulp: juicy, seedless
Taste: fruity, honey-sweet and aromatic
Harvest season: late June to mid-July
Yield: medium high. The first yield onset already with biennial plants.
Desease resistance: due to its high disease resistance and ease cultivation, it is particularly suitable for gardeners
Usage: this species prefers lowland cultivation areas. Therefore, cultivation in Central European climates is only possible in a large container.
