Gooseberry trunk (Grossularia uva-crispa) CHERNOSLIVOVY

Russian red-fruited thornless variety resistant to American gooseberry powdery mildew. Excellent fruit flavor surpasses other red-fruited gooseberry varieties. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.

Crossing: Slivovy x Slivovy 259-23, breeder K.D. Sergeyeva, 1992
Vigour: moderate, moderately spreading, dense. Numerous shoots are almost without spines.

Blossom: self-fertile
Fruit: large, weight 6 - 8 g, oval to pear-shaped, purple-red, almost black when fully ripe
Taste: excellent, very aromatic, harmoniously sweet and sour, highly rated
Harvest season: mid-early, early July
Yield: moderate and regular. Long-term average yield 5.4 t/ha, maximum up to 14.0 t/ha. Yield from one shrub is between 1.6 to 4.2 kg. The berries are suitable for fresh consumption and for processing. The variety is suitable for hobby gardeners, but also for commercial cultivation.
