Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus) LOCH NESS

Semi-erect, medium-growing, thornless blackberry variety with large berries and high disease resistance. Its basic advantages are high yields and very good fruit quality.

Crossing: complex hybrid consisting of North American tetraploids + SCRI plant breeding material (Scottish Crop Research Institute), Scotland 1988
Vigour: medium strong, canes semi-erect, thornless. Due to the usual crop overload, this blackberry requires support.
Fruits: large, weigh 10 g, even more with regular irrigation, with a shiny fruit skin
Taste: tasty, more sweet than sour, not too acidic but very aromatic. When fully ripe, the berries taste excellent and are easy to store and transport.
Harvest season: one of the early varieties, ripening begins in mid-July, the fruits ripen gradually by the end of August
Yield: high, regular
Disease resistance: generally highly resistant to disease and pests, suitable for organic or no-spray culture
Frost resistance: hardy
