no longer available Asian Persimmon (Diospyros kaki) CANGZHOU

Compared to other varieties that ripen at the end of October, Cangzhou ripens a month earlier and therefore reliably bears quality fruits even outside of lowland areas with a shorter growing season. This early ripening, large-fruited variety belongs to the PCNA (Pollination Constant Non Astringent) group. Fruits in this category are never astringent in full maturity and can be consumed straight from the tree.

Origin: China
Vigour: moderate, a 10-year-old tree reaches a height of 4 - 5 m
Flowering period: June. This variety is self-fertile and does not need a pollinator.
Fruits: large, 180 - 200 g, orange-red skin, belongs to the group of varieties with sweet, very delicious pulp
Harvest season: early, late September, a month earlier than other varieties
Yield: medium, regular. The first fruit bears in the 4th year after planting.
Disease resistance: excellent, reliably resistant to pests and fungi diseases, chemical protection is not required
Frost resistance: -20°C, winter protection is recommended for the first two years after planting
