Persimmon (D.kaki x D.virginiana) GORA GOVERLA

Ukrainian hybrid persimmon (Diospyros kaki x Diospyros virginiana) crossing with another Japanese persimmon (Diospyros kaki).

Reliably bears fruit, however tests in Limbach and Pezinok showed that the taste of the fruit was unsatisfactory and they were almost sugar-free. The reason for this could be that a warmer climate or a longer growing season or even both are needed to improve the sugar content and taste. For growing persimmon, we recommend trying the GORA GOVERLA variety in the warmest areas of the country. Due to the climatic conditions in the Little Carpathian region, earlier varieties such as GORA ROMAN KOSCH should be chosen for cultivation. Despite its sufficient winter frost resistance, we recommend planting the hybrid persimmons only in wine-growing areas where the fruits have a chance to ripen to the ripeness suitable for consumption. These growing conditions ensure that the persimmon can develop its full aroma and reach the perfect sweetness.
