Siberian Columnar Plum (Prunus x hybrid) YEREMINA

Columnar Siberian plum, intended mainly for northern growing areas with cold winters and unstable spring weather. Very valuable due to its excellent taste, adaptability, compact and slim growth and high resistance to disease and frost. An interspecific hybrid of Sand cherry (Prunus pumila var. Besseyi), Japanese plum (Prunus salicina) and Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera). Every home gardener will appreciate the narrow columnar shape of the canopy, thanks to which the tree does not take up too much space.

Origin: breeder G.V. Yeremin, Krym Experimental Breeding Station
Vigour: moderate, upright, canopy compact, narrow, moderately dense
Blossom: blooms late, the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinator. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. A suitable pollinator is another variety of Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. Flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruits: large, average weight 50 - 60 g, oval. Skin dark red with a characteristic bluish wax coating. The fruits hold well on the tree, they do not fall off. They can be kept in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. Suitable for fresh consumption and for processing.
Pulp: dense, pink, with increasing ripeness red, semi-freestone. When fully ripe, aromatic and juicy.
Taste: harmonious, spicy, sweet and sour
Harvest season: first half of August
Yield: high, stable and regular, early yield onset
Disease resistance: high
Frost resistance: both the wood and the flower buds are completely frost-resistant
Usage: the variety is particularly suitable for marginal areas of stone fruit cultivation. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
