Siberian plum (Prunus x hybrid) SHATER

Early, weakly growing Siberian plum intended mainly for northern growing areas with cold winters and unstable spring weather. Valuable for quality fruit, high frost resistance and very good resistance to fungal diseases. An interspecific hybrid of Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), Japanese plum (Prunus salicina), Ussurian plum (Prunus ussuriensis) and Chinese plum (Prunus simonii).

Crossing: Chinese-American plum seedling Fibig x free pollination with Siberian plum, breeder G.V. Yeremin, S.N. Zabrodina, VNIISPK, Crimea. Released in 1995.
Vigour: weak, canopy flat, dense
Blossom: medium early, mid-April, the variety is partially self-fertile, so it produces crops even without the presence of pollinator. If there is a pollinator nearby, the harvest will be higher and more stable. A suitable pollinator is another variety of Siberian plum, Japanese plum or Cherry plum. Blooming flowers are resistant to mild frost.
Fruit: medium-sized, weight 30 g, broadly ovate, ground color yellow-red, cover color almost violet over the entire surface with a light wax coating. Peel thick, elastic. Suitable for direct consumption and processing.
Pulp: yellow-green, medium-firm, moderately juicy, with high sugar content and low acidity, semi-freestone. Medium-sized stone, oval.
Taste: more sweet than sour, slightly aromatic
Harvest season: early July, fruits ripen unevenly
Yield: high
Disease and frost resistance: high
Usage: the variety is particularly suitable for peripheral areas of stone fruit cultivation. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
