In the translation "20th century", one of the smooth-skinned Nashi varieties cultivated most in Europe, characterized by attractive market fruits and regular yields.

Origin: Japan, chance seedling found on a rubbish heap in 1898 by Mr Kakunosuke Matsudo at Ishii, Chiba
Vigour: moderate, upright, heavily branched
Blossom: April, cross-pollinate variety, needs another apple pear for pollination. It is also a good pollinator for all other Nashi varieties.
Fruit: medium-sized, weight 150 g, round to slightly flattened. Peel smooth, basic color yellow-green, later bright yellow with light lenticels.
Pulp: white to creamy white with a fine consistency, crispy and juicy. Crispy like an apple, sweet and juicy like a pear.
Taste: harmonious, sweet and sour, aromatic
Harvest season: ripens from mid-September, for fresh consumption, shelf life 4 to 5 months if stored in a cool place
Yield: medium to high, regular. Thinning required.
Disease Resistance: less susceptible to scab (Venturia nashicola), leaf spot disease (Alternaria Kikuchiana), fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) and Pseudomonas syringae
Frost resistance: high, -29°C
