The best Azerbaijani pomegranate variety with excellent taste, intended for fresh consumption, but especially for making quality juices. It is grown mainly in the Sirvan region, which is an ideal place for growing the highest quality pomegranate varieties. Vigour: moderate, up to 3 meters high. Forms an upright, compact, naturally branching, deciduous shrub with finely thorny shoots. Lives to old age, even several centuries. Can be grown in a large pot as a container plant throughout its life.
Site requirements: pomegranates are ideal for a sheltered and sunny spot in the garden or on the terrace
Blossom: blooms gradually from June to July. Guloysha is a self-fertile variety.
Fruits: large, 300 - 400 g, round shape. Purple skin with pronounced stripes at the base of the fruit. Small and soft seeds do not affect consumption.
Juice: dark burgundy, excellent sweet and sour taste. It contains 1.3% acids and up to 15.5% sugar. The seed juice yield is 54%.
Harvest season: the fruits ripen gradually from the beginning to the end of October. They can be stored for 3 - 4 months.
Yield: very high, the productivity of a plant is up to 25 kg of fruit. Yield onset in the 3rd - 4th year after planting.
Disease resistance: pomegranate shrubs are one of the easier fruits to work with since they are not usually affected by pests or diseases. Suitable for organic or no-spray culture.
Frost resistance: to -16°C, as the plants gets older becomes more frost tolerant
Usage: juicy pomegranate seeds are consumed fresh, used to press the juice as well as to make the wine called Grenada. Pomegranate concentrate is used as an ingredient in salad dressings. Boiling pomegranate juice with sugar creates grenadine syrup, which is used as an ingredient in cocktails. In terms of taste, the pomegranate combines sweetness and acidity in an exotic way. That's why pomegranate seeds are ideal for refining desserts, meat and vegetarian dishes.

Pomegranates are not grafted onto any rootstock, so in areas where it gets cold enough to freeze, the tops of the plants may die back, they still come back and produce the same fruit. Ideal for a hot, sunny spot outdoors.
