Pear HORTENZIA®

Very productive, attractive, red late autumn pear. Fruits are easy to transport, when they are overripe they fall from the tree. For commercial and amateur cultivation, suitable for all tree shapes.

Crossing: Nordhäuser Winterforelle x Clapps Liebling
Vigour: moderate to strong, growth habit wide to sprawling, thin shoots
Blossom: cross-pollinate, suitable pollinators are other pear varieties
Fruits: medium-sized, 180 - 250 g, oblong, vermilion on a yellow-green background, very attractive appearance
Pulp: very juicy with a pleasantly medium to strong aroma, sweet to sweet-sour taste, melting
Taste: good, with a fine, sweet aroma
Harvest season: harvest maturity mid to late September, consumption maturity late October, can be kept in cold storage until November
Yield: early onset, very high and regular
Disease resistance: highly resistant scab (Venturia pyrina), powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha), low susceptibility to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora)
